Employer Sponsored Visas Australia (482, 494 & 186)
Get the Right Visa Strategy for Your Job Offer
You’re already in Australia and:
-
You have a job offer or your employer wants to sponsor you
-
You need clarity on whether 482, 494 or 186 is the right pathway
-
You want to avoid mistakes that could delay or risk your visa
-
You’re planning your long-term future — including Permanent Residency
This page is for skilled workers who want a clear, safe and confident pathway to stay and grow their career in Australia.
You finally found an employer willing to sponsor you — but visa rules feel like a maze.
- Is 482 your best option, based on your occupation and salary?
- Could you qualify for 186 Permanent Residency now, or should you transition through 482 first?
- Are you in a regional area and eligible for 494 + PR via subclass 191?
- Do you meet the skills, experience and English requirements?
- Does your employer understand their obligations?
You shouldn’t have to guess your future. A wrong choice today can delay your PR pathway by years — or make you ineligible later.
Skills in Demand Visa – Subclass 482 (SID)
The 482 is Australia’s primary employer-sponsored temporary skilled visa.
You may qualify if:
-
Your occupation fits within the Skills in Demand pathways (Specialist Skills, Core Skills or Essential Skills)
-
You meet the relevant skills, experience and English requirements
-
Your employer meets sponsorship, market salary and nomination criteria
-
Your role is genuine and full-time
Good for: A streamlined pathway to start or continue your skilled career in Australia.
Pathway to PR: May lead to Permanent Residency through the Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) — particularly after 2 years under the TRT stream, if eligibility criteria are met.
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa – Subclass 494
Ideal if you work in a designated regional area.
This visa offers:
-
Up to 5 years of stay
-
Medicare access
-
Strong incentives for employers
-
A defined PR pathway via subclass 191 after 3 years living and working in a regional area, provided income and compliance requirements are met
This is a powerful option for workers located outside Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Employer Nomination Scheme – Subclass 186
For applicants who already meet the skills, experience, English and occupation requirements, the 186 can grant Permanent Residency directly.
Two main streams:
-
Direct Entry (DE): For highly skilled applicants with a positive skills assessment and at least 3 years of experience
-
Temporary Residence Transition (TRT): Available to 482 visa holders after working at least 2 of the last 3 years for the sponsoring employer
If you qualify for 186 DE, you may not need to apply for a 482 first.

See what one of them has to say!
I recently obtained a sponsored work visa and Bravo Migration played an active role in the process. Jacqueline, who handled my case, made herself available, helped me and guided me from the collection of the necessary documentation to the granting of the visa. It's been a pleasure working with them on this journey, and I can't thank them enough for the smooth flow we've had in obtaining my work visa. Looking forward to seeing Australia soon.
