The 2024–25 Queensland State Nominated Migration Program has officially opened, with Queensland allocated 1,200 nominations. These include:
- 600 places for the Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa (subclass 190).
- 600 places for the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
This program is designed for skilled migrants across various sectors who can help address the state’s workforce needs. Below are the details of each pathway, along with the complete Offshore Queensland Skilled Occupation List (QSOL) for offshore applicants.
It’s important to note that QLD now has a Registration of Interest process.
1. Skilled Workers Living in Queensland
Visa Options:
- Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa (subclass 190)
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
Key Requirements:
- Points: A minimum of 65 points is required for both subclass 190 and subclass 491.
- Occupation: Applicants must have an occupation that addresses verified shortages in Queensland’s growing industries, including:
- Energy
- Construction and infrastructure
- Healthcare and social assistance
- Education
- Professional services
- Agribusiness
- Tourism and hospitality
- Transport
- Work Experience: For subclass 190, you must have been living and working in Queensland for at least 6 months; for subclass 491, at least 3 months. The work must be related to your nominated occupation.
- English Language: Proficient English or higher.
- Ongoing Employment: You must provide evidence that your employment will continue for at least 12 months (subclass 190) or 6 months (subclass 491).
- Commitment to Queensland: Subclass 190 requires a commitment to live and work in Queensland for at least 2 years, and subclass 491 requires a 3-year commitment to regional Queensland?
2. Graduates of a Queensland University?(
Visa Options:
- Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa (subclass 190)
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
Key Requirements:
- Qualification: You must have a bachelor’s degree or higher from a Queensland university in a priority field. The degree must have been completed 100% in Queensland, and you should have graduated after July 1, 2022.
- Priority Fields: These include Agriculture and Environment, Engineering, Education, Health, Information Technology, and Natural and Physical Sciences.
- Work Experience: For subclass 190, you must have been living and working in Queensland for at least 6 months, and for subclass 491, at least 3 months. This work must be related to your qualification.
- English Language: Proficient English or higher
3. Small Business Owners Operating in Regional Queensland
Visa Option:
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
Key Requirements:
- Business Ownership: You must own and operate a small business in regional Queensland for at least 6 months before submitting your Expression of Interest (EOI).
- Investment: Your business must have been purchased for at least AUD 100,000. There are several limitations in terms of what business can be purchased, including restriction of regional areas, for example, the Gold Coast is not accepted in some cases anymore.
- English Language: Proficient English or higher.
- Commitment: A commitment to live and work in regional Queensland for at least 3 years from the date your visa is granted
4. Skilled Workers Living Offshore
Visa Options:
- Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa (subclass 190)
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
Key Requirements:
- Points: A minimum of 65 points for both subclasses.
- Occupation: You must have an occupation on the Offshore Queensland Skilled Occupation List (QSOL).
- English Language: Proficient English or higher.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of full-time skilled employment in your nominated occupation is required. You must also be employed in your nominated occupation at the time of invitation.
