The Australian Bureau of Statistics has released new figures that show that the number of Australians who were born overseas continues to increase keeping a trend that has been ongoing for the past 10 years.
Now more than 28 per cent of Australia’s population (almost a third!) was born in another country, having migrated here after that.
The top 10 countries of birth as of June 2016 were:
- United Kingdom
- New Zealand
- China
- India
- Philippines
- Vietnam
- Italy
- South Africa
- Malaysia
- Germany
